A crime can have severe effects on a victim. Weeks, even months after the event, a victim may be still experiencing emotional problems, which can lead to feelings of guilt, frustration, and anger. Casa de la Familia is dedicated to help those victims, as well as their families, who have suffered an emotional injury as a result of a crime. Our on staff case management team works closely with victims' advocates and mental health providers to ensure that victims are aware and are able to take advantage of community services.
Casa de la Familia is qualified and will be holding quarterly 40 hour domestic violence training certification. This certificate is required by the state for employees to be providing direct client services at any domestic violence agency.
This class will provide an overview of domestic violence, with presenters including police officers, detectives, social workers, marriage family therapists, psychologists, survivors and more. Subjects includes the history, dynamics of domestic violence, cultural diversity of domestic violence, children of domestic violence, crisis intervention, domestic violence reporting, advocacy and more. Please note that lunch is on your own.
Note: If you are currently receiving therapy, we advise you that this is a rigorous training that can trigger you. This is especially the case if you are a survivor of domestic violence, sexual assault and rape or child abuse. We warn you that the training will include survivor testimonials that can be graphic.
5 Day Training starts on February 8, 2019.
