Yazmin is the mother of two children and a survivor of domestic violence. Unfortunately, she has been struggling with challenges of domestic violence-related trauma symptoms. She is currently faced with an increase to her rent and has no spousal/partner support for her son from the alleged suspect. She works six-to-seven days per week but continues to fall short on rent. Yazmin lives in a two-bedroom apartment with her two children and elderly grandmother. The COVID-19 pandemic weighs heavy on her mind, as she is terrified of losing her job if her employer shuts work down due to an outbreak. Yazmin, her children and her grandmother are in desperate need of a pleasant Christmas, due to the limited resources available to Yazmin based on her work scheduled and trauma-related symptoms.
Reina is the single mother of three children and is set to give birth to her fourth child. She is a survivor of domestic violence. However, she lost her job a couple weeks ago due to her traumatic history and currently resides with a friend. She is undocumented, which prevents her from qualifying for government programs she needs to help provide for her children.
Fortuna is a mother of three children, a survivor of domestic violence, and an undocumented immigrant. She sought refuge at a local church but has struggled to find a new job. Unfortunately, she has struggled to provide for her children, one of which is on the Autism spectrum. Her eldest child has been able to secure employment and has become the main provider for their family. Fortuna and her family have regularly attended therapy sessions, as they strive to make impactful change in their lives. Fortuna’s youngest son still believes in Santa Claus, but she has told her son it is likely Santa would not come due to COVID-19. Please help ease the burden their family has experienced this holiday season.
Maria is the sole provider for her two children. She works tirelessly to provide her children with the necessities, even picking up extra shifts to make sure her family has what they need to survive. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted Maria’s hours as a housekeeper. She has extremely limited support in the United States. Any help for Maria and her two children this Christmas would provide significant relief to this family.
Rosalia of three children has stood resilient in the face of all adversity she has endured. She suffered physical abuse, which has continued to negatively affect her physical health. She has not been able to receive adequate medical treatment due to her financial constraints.
Victoria has been affected both emotionally and financially due to the trauma she has suffered. She has had severe difficulty going to work due to her symptoms, as well as her children’s impact to the trauma. Victoria’s children have been affected by the traumatic incident, which has negatively impacted their behavior.
Guadalupe is a mother of three sons. Unfortunately, her middle child is a victim of statutory rape. Guadalupe is an undocumented immigrant and has struggled to find a stable job; she currently babysits to pay for bills. Her eldest son is employed and helps provide for family. Her teenage son is expecting a child, and she is excited to become a grandmother. She has been consistent with therapy and continues to strive to live a positive, healthy lifestyle. Please help ease the burden their family has experienced this holiday season.
This family has been struggling financially since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Hilda stays at home with her five children, while her husband, Hector, works. However, due to the pandemic, Hector’s hours fluctuate. Hilda has expressed concern and heightened stress due to bills. She is worried about how the stress has negatively impacted her health. A donation to this family could relieve major burden this Christmas.
Claudia is a child survivor and is thriving in therapy. Her strength and courage is inspiring, even with the approaching court date with the perpetrator. Her family’s unity and support of one another despite their limited financial stability is a privilege and honor to witness.
Silvia, who is on the Autism Spectrum, was physically assaulted by a homeless man. Silvia's mother carries significant burden for her health, as her mother is her caregiver. She also works part-time to provide for the family. Providing a donation to Silvia's would help alleviate some of the hardships their family faces.
Margot has experienced severe trauma as a result of the abuse she lived with for years from her partner, including multiple incidents of rape. She experienced numerous obstacles in attempting to leave and settle into a home of her own with her two boys. She struggled with describing the abuse in court due to the trauma and intimidation by her abuser’s family, one of which also assaulted her. The manager of her apartment also sided with her abuser, and she was not able to get back to her apartment. Additionally, the abuser and his daughter threw away all of Margot’s possessions, including some of the children’s things. She has found a new place to live, but she has nothing in her home. She would really benefit from the help to make this Christmas special for her and her two boys.
Pablo is a single father of three girls. His wife abandoned their family after he was injured at work. He is unable to work due to his physical disabilities. Pablo and his three daughters continue to struggle to adjust to their income limitations, as well as his physical limitations. His eldest daughter has taken on the role of mothering his two youngest daughters. Pablo would appreciate assistance to make this a special holiday for his daughters.
Mabel is a mother of two children, a survivor of human trafficking, and an undocumented immigrant. She significantly struggles to find a stable job and is not doing well physically. She lives with her adult daughter but has lost financial support. Mabel has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic but continues to find ways to keep them motivated in reaching goals. Please help ease the burden their family has experienced this Christmas.
